Mr. Andrew Locker To All Instructors
My name is Andrew Locker. I will be teaching Math courses at SAC Day. I have tutored Math, Chemistry and Physics since 2016 and have grown to love teaching. I like to say that mathematics is the language that God used to speak the universe into existence. I say this because the world around us moves and reacts in distinctly mathematical ways. Mathematics can give us a better understanding of the physical world and economic markets, as well as the problem solving skills to use that understanding in a productive way.
I'm a 2015 HAAC Day graduate, and I received a Bachelors Degree in Physics (2019) and a Masters in Data Analytics (2020). I used the Saxon Math curriculum in high school and have used it many times over the years with students that I have tutored. I plan to use Saxon because I think it is a good overall text. That is not to say it is without its flaws; no curriculum is. But because of my familiarity with Saxon, I feel I can better accommodate those flaws than ones from another textbook. Saxon Algebra I and Algebra II each contain half of a geometry credit, meaning that a separate Geometry class is not necessary to receive a full Geometry credit if both Algebra classes are completed. This is especially convenient as most stand alone Geometry texts are not very good, in my opinion.
